Get Ready for Spring! (Really, it’s coming.)

DaffodilsIt’s hard to believe it, but we’re almost out of this crazy, colder-than-you-know-what winter. Spring begins next week, and not far behind will be warmer days and sunnier skies. We hope.

With the arrival of spring, it’s time to start doing some minor maintenance around the yard so that, come June, it will be a lush, green paradise where you can sit back, relax, and complain how hot it is.

Therefore, we’ve put together a little list of things you can do around your yard as we look forward to warmer days ahead:

  • Prune dead branches on trees and shrubs – This will give them a cleaner look and give the new branches room to grow.
  • Cut back any dead, dried up perennials – Trim any old, dry perennials and grasses to the ground and split up any plants that may need a little more breathing room.
  • Rake up any leftover leaves – The leaves served as a natural mulch in the winter, but now it’s time to rake ’em up and get your gardens looking clean and tidy.
  • Aerate, seed, and fertilize your lawn – Early spring is a great time to do some easy things that will make your lawn look thick and green all summer long.
